FIRES: A small fire on Childowla Road at Bookham is now under control.

Rural Fire Service Superintendent Peter Dyce told Scoop a small fire broke out at sunset and spread over the top of a hill, but that rain had now drenched it and assisted its containment.

He said a number of brigades were at the ready in the event lightning from this evening’s storms ignited more fires across the region.

“We’ve got a number of brigades standing up and ready to roll in case we have any more,” he said tonight.

Two other small fires broke out on Black Range Road yesterday at about 8.15pm. Rain also extinguished those before they cause any significant damage.
