COUNCIL: Yass Valley Council has advised they will be flushing water mains as part of routine maintenance to ensure acceptable water quality is sustained for residents.

This will help remove sediment deposits from the water mains.

Bowning, Binalong and Yass will be affected, as per the schedule below.

The flushing will take place from 9am to 4pm during the following days; Bowning 1-2 September, Binalong 3-4 September, North Yass (north of Yass River) 14-18 September, South Yass 21-30 September.

“During this maintenance period, you may experience the water supply becoming discoloured,” council advised.

“If you do experience water discolouration, you are advised to do the following:

  •  boil any water you intend to drink
  • be careful when washing clothes, especially light coloured clothing
  • try to avoid using your hot water system.”
