Local boys shine as Junior Brumbies champions

JUNIOR RUGBY UNION: Five local boys who were selected in the Junior Brumbies representative teams earlier this season competed at the NSW Junior Rugby Union State Rugby Championships over the long weekend.

Thomas Carey, from Yass, along with Baden Godfrey and captain Jack Callaughan, both from Murrumbateman, were members of the 12’s team that competed at Camden.

Captain Connor Bush,  from Bowning, and Lachlan Tindale, from Murrumbateman, were in the 13’s team that competed at Drummoyne.

Both the 12’s and 13’s made it through to the quarter finals but went down. This placed them in the play-offs for fifth and sixth.

The 12’s finished up in sixth place from the 17 competing teams, and the 13’s were also placed sixth but from 18 teams.

Connor Bush was awarded Player’s Player and was the top try-scorer for the 13’s team, as was Thomas Carey for the 12’s.
