Police pursue suspected drug supplier

POLICE chased a 27-year-old male driver from Victoria for about 35km along the Hume Highway from Coolac to Bookham last Thursday.

The pursuit ended when the driver crashed into a fence at Burrinjuck Road.

The chase reached speeds of 152km/h.

He was charged under Skye’s Law with forcing a police pursuit, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, possessing and supplying a prohibited drug and for never being licensed.

He will appear before Yass Local Court on a date to be fixed.

Fined for burnout

A 23-year-old ACT man was fined $623 for performing a burnout in Comur Street, Yass, recently.

Police stopped him and issued a defect notice on his car, a silver Commodore, at 5.25pm on Thursday.

Drugs, stolen goods found after crash

A 26-year-old man has been charged with a theft, drug and trespass offences after crashing a car into a rural property on Spring Range Road.

Police found the man inside the car at 2pm on Friday. They seized a quantity of green vegetable matter believed to be cannabis, and goods believed to have been stolen.

He was charged with trespass after driving his vehicle into the private property without permission, goods in custody, and possessing a prohibited drug.

He will appear before Yass Local Court on a date to be fixed.

Burglary foiled

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted break and enter on a block of units in Meehan Street .

Sometime between 6pm on April 22 and 1pm the following day, offenders have manipulated a lock and left behind a broken piece of the device inside the lock.

Nothing was stolen.

High-range drink driving

A 25-year-old man from Lapstone NSW was charged with high-range drink driving on the Hume Highway recently.

Police stopped his vehicle at 8.30pm and he underwent a breath test.

He returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.158.

His licence was automatically suspended and he was ordered to appear before Yass Local Court at a later date.
