Vaughn awarded highest accolade for Scouts
COMMUNITY: 1st Yass Scouts celebrated their Christmas party at Coronation Park recently with the highest award for scouting presented to one of our youth members.
Ryan Vaughn was awarded his Australian Scout Medallion. This is the highest award for scouting in Australia.
Ryan was presented his award by Ian Petty, Regional Commissioner for Scouts, Riverina Region. His very proud parents and brothers were there as well as the Yass Scout leaders, and other Yass Scout members from Joeys, Cubs and Scouts.
The Australian Scout Medallion is very difficult to achieve and has taken Ryan three years of hard work and dedication including leadership of the Yass Scouts, camping and bushcraft skills and organising from start to finish a three-day hike of the Hume and Hovell Walking track at Tumut.
His leadership has also involved leading a team at a Scouting competition at Camp Cottermouth in the A.C.T. Well done.
The 1st Yass Scouts leadership would like to thank all those involved this year including leaders, committee, volunteers and most importantly the parents of the kids. We look forward to another great year in 2016.
