Sculpture in Paddock to host brazier auction for funds

ARTS: Sculpture in the Paddock is having a fund-raising drive this weekend, auctioning off artistic outdoor fires guaranteed to bring a bit of culture and interest into any garden!

Spokesman Al Phemister said the brazier designs include a cannon, a rocket ship, a teapot and a wood fired pizza oven, to name a few.

They will be auctioned at Cooma Cottage on Saturday, August 29, at 6pm.

“Yass Engineering has donated steel for the artists to use,” he told Scoop.

“Yass Valley Council has let us collect scrap hot water services for the braziers, and Aldi Supermarket, Clonakilla, Dog Trap Vineyard and Shaw Vineyard Estate have all donated food and wine for the event.”

Mayor Rowena Abbey, her husband Brendan Abbey, and Roger Buckman have donated wood for a raffle on the night.

There are so far about 12 braziers and a wood fired pizza oven available.

The public is invited to attend the event and bring their friends for a night of bidding.

The Sculpture in the Paddock exhibition will run from September 19 to October 11 this year, in the beautiful surrounds of the National Trust property Cooma Cottage.
