Victoria Park to host ‘mouth watering’ match

CRICKET: The Bowning Buffaloes have set up a mouth watering clash with the Golf Club this Saturday at Victoria Park.

The Buffaloes cruised past Boorowa on Saturday and Golf Club enjoyed the bye, meaning both sides sit on top of the Triggs Shield ladder with one loss apiece.

Boorowa travelled to Bowning on Saturday and after winning the toss, compiled 145 on a dry and quick outfield. Beau Walker continued his impressive form with the ball claiming his third five-wicket haul in as many games, finishing with figures of 6/12.

Bowning openers Dave Brown and Andrew Swaffield steered their side to 137 before Brown lost his wicket caught behind on 63. Swaffield remained not out on 77.

The Soldiers Club Snipers held on in a nail biter against the Royal Pirates at Vic Park. The Snipers made a competitive 147. The Pirates’ run chase went down to the last over, requiring 12 runs to snatch the win falling short by eight.

Harden Hornets continued their good form accounting for the Bookham Bulls. Batting first the Bulls managed 86 with captain Roy Robertson offering the only resistance with 26. Harden had little trouble reaching the total in the 16th over for the loss of two wickets.

In B Grade Sweeney Cup action, the Golf Club Taipans successfully chased 145 against Boorowa at Boorowa. Experienced opening batsman Adrian Waters is having a fantastic year with the bat leading his youthful side with 69 not out. Dylan Percival was the pick of the Taipans bowlers with 4/29.

Harden B Grade could only scrape together 66 batting first against Murrumbateman. In reply middle-order batsman Mitch Quinn scored an unbeaten 30 as Murrumbateman got the runs five down.

The Soldiers Club Horns were upset by the Golf Club Colts. The Colts posted an imposing 208 thanks to a few contributors, in particular Tom Roche 47 and Daniel Kemp 48. Horns batsman Brad Hansen kept his side in the contest with 79 but the Horns eventually fell short on 173.

In the game at Dalton between home side the Dingoes and the Gundaroo Gunners, the Dingoes were outclassed by the Gundaroo side scoring 101 batting first. The Gunners made no mistake in getting the runs with Rob Clarke posting 50 not out.

The YDCA representative side hosted Cootamundra in the Stribley Shield competition on Sunday. Craig Irwin scored a run a ball century finishing on 105. Daniel Poidevin provided solid support with 69 as the ‘Yabbies’ compiled 231 batting first. Beau Walker was again dominant with the ball taking four wickets as they restricted Cootamundra to 197.
