RUGBY LEAGUE: ABC Radio Grandstand will broadcast live at the Woodbridge Cup in Young next month.

In a minor coup for country rugby league, the president of Woodbridge Cup, Andrew Pull, announced last Tuesday the program would conduct an outside broadcast of the 2015 Woodbridge Cup on September 20.

“I wanted to make this known now so that clubs which still have a chance of making our grand final will have extra incentive,” Mr. Pull said.

The first grade fixture, which starts at 3pm, will be broadcast live on ABC radio across New South Wales. ABC’s Andrew Moore will call the game and Matt Elliott will assist.

In other news, Binalong’s Jersey Girls will have the chance to go on top of the Woodbridge Cup League Tag ladder this Saturday if they can defeat Eugowra at Binalong.

The game kicks off at 12:40pm.

Binalong’s Kayla Smith is one player to watch in this match. She kicks a mean goal, defends well and has a darting attack that is difficult to defend.

I had the dubious pleasure of playing against Kaylah in a trial match several weeks ago at Binalong.

On the few occasions I had my hands on the ball, Kaylah had me constantly pinned down. She also knows how to sniff out a try, and from anywhere on the field.

Eugowra is just one point ahead of Binalong on the League Tag ladder, they have an easier run to the finals but if the Jersey Girls manage a win on home soil this Saturday and win their remaining games against Grenfell and Condobolin, they will grab the 2015 minor premiership.
