Binalong man killed near Boorowa
Tributes are flowing for a young Binalong man killed in a road accident on Lachlan Valley Way on Monday morning.
Shortly after 8.15am emergency services were called to the scene of a crash near Boorowa, 40km north of Yass, after the driver of a white utility was struck by a piece of equipment falling from another vehicle.
The 23-year-old man driving the utility died at the scene.
A 34-year-old woman who was a passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was taken to Boorowa Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
The Bankstown man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death/drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasioning death).
He is due to appear in Yass Local Court on Thursday May 12.
The road was closed in both directions between the Hume Highway and Cunningar Road for several hours as emergency crews worked on scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Cattle killed in truck accident
Eleven cattle were euthanised after a cattle truck accident on Wee Jasper Road on Monday morning (pictured).
A 71 year-old driver from Yass and his wife were travelling into Yass when he lost control of the vehicle on a slight bend on the outskirts of Yass town.
The truck rolled onto its passenger side, injuring the woman’s arm.
She was taken to Canberra Hospital with a suspected broken arm. The driver was treated for shock at Yass Hospital.
There were 43 head of cattle on board.
The cause is still being investigated.
Cannabis supplier charged
A 50 year-old man from Murrumbateman will appear in Yass Local Court on Thursday June 16 charged with supplying a drug, cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a prohibited drug.
Police from the Hume Target Action Group attended his home address last Wednesday afternoon.
They seized eight cannabis plants and 6.8g of dry cannabis leaf.
Hunt for car wash bandits
Police are investigating a water fight between two men at a local car wash at 2am on Saturday April 8.
Police said CCTV footage captured the men entering Yass Car Wash and having a water fight with the sprays.
They damaged two steel pins and a sensor during the shenanigans, and also removed a fuse from the fuse box.
Damage is estimated at $500 in value.

Thefts from Comur Street businesses
Police are investigating the theft of sunglasses and cash from two locations on Comur Street on Wednesday night.
They said the offender is described as a tall, thin man in his 40s, with dark hair, sunglasses on his head, dark blue shirt, blue jeans and growth on his face.
He entered a residence above a business in Comur Street, Yass, and stole two pairs of sunglasses valued at $1000, at about 7.30pm Wednesday April 13.
There had been a theft at the Australian Hotel two hours earlier where a male person matching the same description entered the restaurant area of the hotel and stole $250 from an employee’s wallet.
Police are seeking assistance to identify the man. Anyone with information should contact the police station 6226 9399 or Crime Stoppers.
