AFL: The Aussie Hotel Yass Roos are set to take on a new competition in 2016. The AFL Canberra Fourth Grade in which Yass will compete this year includes the Southern Cats, Molonglo Juggernauts, Tuggeranong Hawks, Batemans Bay Seahawks, Googong Hogs, ANU Griffins, ADFA/RMC Rams, UC Magpies, Woden Blue and Ainslie Tricolours.

The first game for the Roos will be against Woden blues at Joe O’Connor Park on Saturday from 12pm.

Coach Terry Lemon is at the helm in 2016 and he is excited about the new season.

The Fourth grade competition will be a tough challenge for the Roos but they are keen to test themselves against some past foes such as ANU, Magpies and ADFA as well as some new opposition like Woden and Batemans Bay. There will even be a trip to the seaside!

A mix of old and new faces make up the Roos this year and Terry has been happy with numbers and skills at training.

This Saturday will also see the Player Lottery and season launch party take place at the Aussie Hotel Bistro. Activities get underway at 6pm. This important kick-off event will once again give sponsors and supporters a chance to get involved by purchasing a player. If your player is nominated as Player’s player during the season you win the weekly prize.

Aussie rules fans need to get to Joe O’Connor Park on Saturday to cheer on the Roos in their opening clash with Woden Blues. Follow on to the Aussie Hotel to socialise with the team and committee and round a big launch to the 2016 season.

I’ll see you at the footy.
