Woman injured in Hume Highway accident

FROM THE FORCE: A 39-year-old woman from Yass suffered injuries after a motor vehicle accident at midnight on November 25.

She had been driving on the Hume Highway at the intersection with Bowning Road, when the vehicle rolled once onto its roof and landed back onto its tyres.

She sustained extensive bruising and was taken to Yass Hospital before being transferred to The Canberra Hospital with possible internal injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

Barton blitz continues

Police continue to target speeding and dangerous driver behaviours on the Barton Highway during a two week blitz until December 11.

They have so far arrested three drivers for testing positive to drug-driving, all involving cannabis.

There have been two suspended driver charges issued, both to the same driver.

Sixteen traffic infringements have been issued so far.

Wanted couple arrested

A 33-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both from Jerrawa, were arrested by Yass police last Monday in connection with outstanding arrest warrants dating back to 2007.

They were wanted for theft matters.

The woman was also required to attend court for traffic offences.

Both were refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court.

Parole violation arrest

A 44-year-old Moorooka man was arrested by Yass Highway Patrol at 4pm on Tuesday for breaching his parole conditions.

He was taken to Goulburn Gaol to serve the remainder of his sentence, which is six months and 23 days.

Cannabis plants seized

A 50-year-old Murrumbateman man has been ordered to appear at Yass Local Court on January 14 after police found a number of cannabis plants at his home.

They seized nine cannabis plants which had grown to about one metre high, from his yard.

He was charged with cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a prohibited plant.

Pub vandalised

A 19-year-old man from Packenham in Victoria, has been ordered to attend Yass Local Court after he damaged a ceiling fan in the beer garden of a Yass licensed premises on Saturday morning.

He will appear at Yass local court on January 14.

Murrumbateman property theft

A property on the Barton Highway at Murrumbateman was broken into between November 19 and 29.

The offender/s entered through an unlocked gate and stole a Kawasaki motorcross motorcycle (coloured green and black), six ‘Ugly Sticks’ fishing rods and a blue Yamaha racing motorbike stand, from the detached garage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers or the Yass Police Station.

Drug driving

A 35-year-old man from Garran, ACT, was stopped by police on Barton highway as a result of a random drug testing operation on November 28 at 5.30pm.

He tested positive to cannabis.

Checks on his licence revealed it was suspended at the time.

Investigations are continuing.

Bridge graffitti

Police are looking for more information regarding the vandalism of the Yass River Bridge in the early hours of Friday, November 27.

An offender/s have painted graffiti under the bridge in white paint.
