Braeden, James reach pinnacle of Scouts and Cubs honours

The 1st Yass Scouts presented the Australian Scout Medallion and the Grey Wolf Award – the highest awards a Scout and Cub Scout can achieve in Australia – to Braeden Adams and James Gray recently.

Braeden received the Australian Scout Medallion, after working hard for four years to through leadership, team building, camping and organising a three-day hike for the Scout troop along the Hume And Hovell Walking Track.

Braeden has been a driving force to help build the Yass Scout troop and has set a great example for his peers.

The award was presented by Regional Commissioner for Scouts in the Riverina Ian Petty.

James Gray received The Grey Wolf Badge and  award. It has taken James two years to get this acheivement which has included being part of their Pack Council, camping, high level badgework and also running a day hike for his Cub pack.

James is now in the process of moving into the Scouts and is looking forward to the challenge. The award was presented by Regional Commissioner for Cub Scouts in the Riverina Alice “Bub” Johnstone.

The awards were also attended by parents and grandparents, families and friends and councillor Geoff Frost.

The night was a great success with many other awards handed out including the Joey Scout Environment badge which takes six months to achieve, Bronze and Silver Boomerangs to the Cub Scouts and Adventurer Cord and Patrol badges to the Scouts.

First Yass Scouts cater for ages six years through to 18 years with Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers.
