Mare shot dead at Murrumbateman

FROM THE FORCE: Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a horse on a Murrumbateman property recently.

Police said the brood mare was found dead on the Anchow Road property, near Kaveneys Road, on Tuesday morning.

A vet was called to inspect the mare and found she had been shot with a high-powered rifle in the hind leg thigh.

Inquiries are continuing.

Fined $500 for offensive language

A 21 year-old man from Bowen Mountain was fined $500 for using offensive language after he was refused entry to a local licensed premises at 11.50pm on Saturday.

He abused hotel staff.

$11,000 canopy stolen

Police are investigating the theft of a custom-made silver/chrome canopy that fits a two-door Toyota Hilux.

It was stolen from a property on Coolalie Road between September 21 and October 12.

It is valued at $11,000.
