Golf Club, Buffaloes take wins on Saturday

CRICKET: The Golf Club and Bowning Buffaloes registered wins on Saturday to establish themselves as the front runners for the Triggs Shield.

Golf Club played the Soldiers Club Snipers on the Harden turf.

Batting first the Snipers were restricted to 80 with some tight bowling from opening bowlers Luke Southwell and Jarrod Furlonge.

In reply, Golf Club reached the total comfortably with captain Daniel Poidevin steering his side to victory.

The reigning premiers Bowning Buffaloes continued their strong start to the season beating the Harden Hornets at Bowning Oval.

Bowning’s top order failed and it was left to opener Dave Brown to rescue the innings with a memorable century.

Brown was finally dismissed on 123 after guiding Bowning to a total of 191.

Martin Brown was the pick of the Harden bowlers finishing with 4/24. In reply Harden was bowled out for 125, with Bowning all rounder Beau Walker claiming his second 5 wicket haul in as many weeks with 5/21.

The Royal Hotel Pirates accounted for Bookham in the game at Vic Park.

The Pirates posted 233 batting first with middle order batsman Nick Pollack starring, finishing agonisingly close to a century on 97.

Boorowa had the bye.

In Sweeney Cup B grade results, Harden B grade won in an upset vs the competition heavyweights Gundaroo Gunners.

Harden posted 143 off their 40 overs and were able to bowl the Gunners out for 104.

The Soldiers Club Horns secured a victory against the Binalong Bushrangers.

The Bushrangers would have fancied their chances after posting 206 in 40 overs but the horns were able to chase it down comfortably in the 31st over and 3 wickets in hand with Ed Ngatai remaining not out on 64.
